A judge in rural Oregon on Monday tossed out statewide coronavirus restrictions imposed by Democratic Gov. Kate Brown, saying she didn’t seek the Legislature's approval to extend the stay-at-home orders beyond a 28-day limit. Several Oregon opposers of the “Stay At Home Decree” from Governor Kate Brown’s executive actions have decried personal infringements on religious freedoms as well as their ability to earn a living.
Economists have forecasted more than a 2 billion dollar revenue loss due to COVID19 in Oregon. The state unemployment rate has jumped to a record 14.2%. Oregon House Rep. 37 District Rachel Prusak joins us to discuss these issues and how a NURSE is qualified to lead in the political arena. We’ll also discuss the ‘Death With Dignity Act’ which allows terminally ill Oregonians to end their life through the voluntary self administration of lethal medications, expressly prescribed by a physician for that purpose.
Rachel Prusak is an American Democratic politician and nurse practitioner who was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2018. She represents the 37th district, which includes West Linn, Durham, Rivergrove, Tualatin, and Stafford. Prusak graduated from Northeastern University with a BA in nursing and then earned a Masters in nursing from Frontier Nursing University. Before her tenure in office, she was a family nurse practitioner who served elderly homebound patients for over 20 years, specializing in palliative and hospice care. https://rachelforstaterep.com

Emerson Dameron shares his personal story of depression through childhood, and self-medicating with alcohol which led him to researching the effects that psychedelics had on depression and enrolling into UCLA’s Depression Grand Challenge Ketamine clinical trials. Ketamine, It's Not Just A Party Drug; Part 1: A Doctor's Story
Friday Apr 10, 2020
Friday Apr 10, 2020
In the '80s, it became a popular club drug, gaining nicknames like Special K and Cat Valium, and more recently, in early 2019, a form of ketamine was approved by the FDA as an antidepressant. Ketamine’s ability to work for these difficult-to-treat people might be because of its novel mode of action. The drug blocks glutamatergic N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors; other antidepressants interact with serotonin, norepinephrine, or adrenaline.Because there have been very few advances in depression treatment in recent years, ketamine has caused excitement and renewed hope. Many practitioners are opening up "ketamine clinics" to treat patient's suffering from depression, anxiety and PTSD, but is this treatment modality safe? How does it work?
Special Guest Dr. Debra Gambrell joins us to talk about "Keatamine Clinics." She explains how Ketamine works on the brain and it's relationship to consciousness in conjunction with proper treatment regimens for it's use in treating depression and PTSD. She practices Consciousness-Shifting Trauma Resolution, or CSTR. Her offices are based in Marin County and Foster City, CA . She'll also be talking about the importance of "Fevers" in children and in adults. Dr Debra Gambrell graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine (now KUMBC), in 2003. After completing her Transitional Osteopathic Internship in Darby, PA, she completed an anesthesia residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She then completed a pediatric anesthesia fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles in 2009 and remained on stall for two years as an Assistant Professor. In 2011, Dr. Gambrell relocated to Sonoma County, CA, to help her son heal from autism.
In 2017, Dr. Gambrell and her family moved to Oregon, where she continues to remotely follow patients from her Sonoma County private practice, write, and work with healing movement work in children. She has since opened up new private clinic where she practices Consciousness-Shifting Trauma Resolution (CSTR) using both medications and biofeedback/somatic interventions. On a limited basis, Dr. Gambrell provides anesthesia at various locations and sees patients at Gordon Medical Associates in Marin County and Pacific Frontier Medical in Foster City, CA. Violence Is A Disease: Workplace Violence; Part 1 - A Nurse's Story
Tuesday Apr 07, 2020
Tuesday Apr 07, 2020
Violence Is A Disease .... The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports of nearly 25,000 workplace assaults reported annually, 75% occur in health care and social service settings and workers in health care settings are four times more likely to be victimized than workers in private industry. A 2014 survey on hospital crime attributed 75% of aggravated assaults and 93% of all assaults against health care workers to patients or customers.
Beth Duche, RN, told police that Mark Ryan, MD, forcefully grabbed and squeezed her neck in October 2018 after she asked him to stop turning off recovering patients' vital sign machines. Another nurse said she saw the attack. Dr. Ryan, who previously cited "alarm fatigue" as the cause of his outburst, pleaded guilty to one felony assault charge of strangulation as well as one misdemeanor assault charge. His sentencing is scheduled for June.
Beth Duche RN joins us to share her story. Beth has been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. She started her career in Med/Surg, then began floating between ER, ICU, Cath lab, SNF, Cardiac Rehab and ended up in PACU in 2001. She fell in love with surgery ( but did not want to be an OR nurse). Prior to the assault, she worked in PACU for 17 years.
